Relighting price, come to around 1$ per Actual Watt.



That includes: Product, labor and old fixtures' removal.



Circuit modifications, add-ons, old fixtures' disposal, special equipment rental, road closure permit,... might induce extra charges, to cover the occurred expenses.


Your savings will be, around 0.50$ per Actual Watt, each year!

Calculation explanation:


TOTAL AMPS FREED: As lighting consumption is cut in two, circuit load does the same. Amperage is cut in halve: Total Watt / system Voltage / 2 = Amperage economy.

TOTAL COST FOR RETROFITTING: As our relighting cost is 1$ per Watt, its total cost is same as the total, initial Power consumption: Total Watt x 1$ = Total cost.

CLIMATE CONTROL ANNUAL ECONOMY =((Total Watt / 2 *halve power means halve heat + 20% of Total Watt *No more ballast heat emission) / 2 *halve of the lighting power is got to be managed by air conditioning system / 1000 *converting into kWh) x local kWh cost x 15h per day x 365 days

MAINTENANCE-FREE SAVINGS: LEDs are maintenance free: The old Bulbs, Ballasts and manpower cost 20% of the Total Watt of the initial lighting, which is = Total Watt x 0.2

TOTAL ANNUAL SAVING = (Total Watt / 2 / 1000) x kWh x 15 x 365 + Maintenance and Climate Control economy

PAY-BACK, ON THE 3TH YEAR: Total Cost - 3 x Total Annual Saving

Calculation:



Our calculations are very conservative and are considering that you have a brand new, top quality, initial lighting setup. But, usually, it is not so. Here are few examples of real life situations:..

Example #1:


A store needs a full, customers area, relight:
Which is around 130 pieces of High Pressure Sodium bulb fixtures, 300W each + 60 to 120w consumed by each of their ballast, which is not taken in consideration for the job cost.

300W x 1$ x 130pcs = 39 000$
There will be a need for two lifts and old fixtures' disposal. This is around 1000$.
39 000$ + 1 000$ = 40 000$ + tax in total.
In time, it might take up to a week of work, if done on the night shift only. Few days, if around-the-clock.
The buy-off:
The initial lighting was using 0,37kwh x 130pcs x 0.066$ per kWh x 15 hours per day x 365 days = 17380.94$ per year...
150W LED fixture is recommended to replace the 300W HPS fixture. That is enough to provide over 120% of light efficiency of the replaced one:
17380.94$ / 2 = 8 690.47$
Not to forget, the short life expectancy of the HPS bulbs, which costs over 20$ per year for the bulb and 10$ for the labor,... same goes for the ballasts replacements:
30 x 130 x 2 = 6 800.00$
The other 150W that was consumed by the old fixture and the 60-120W by its ballast, was converted to heat.
Which had to be conditioned!
In average, high-bay lighting conditioning compensation, comes to around one half of the heater's power consumption.
( 0,150kwh + 0,070kwh ) 130 x 0.067 x 15 x 365 / 2 = 5 245.5975$

The total annum economy is:
8 690.47$ + 6 800.00$ + 5 245.5975$ = 20 736.07$

*Two year of LED lighting were enough to cover the switch cost in savings, for this store!

Example #2:
Office T8 panels retrofit:
130 panels, 2 T8 tubes in each. Each tube is 32W an extra 20W, consumed by their ballast, which is not taken in consideration for the job cost.
130pcs x two T8 x 32W = 8320$ in total. The speed is almost same as with the first example (2-7days).

The buy-off: The initial lighting was using 0,084kwh x 130pcs x 0.066$ per kWh x 15 hours per day x 365 days = 3945.94$ per year...
16W LED strip is recommended to replace the 32W Mercury tubes fixture. That is enough to provide over 120% of light efficiency of the replaced one:
3945.94$ / 2 = 1 972.97$
Not to forget, the shorter life expectancy of the T8s, which costs over 2$ per year for the bulb and 2$ for the labor,... the ballasts replacements is 10-15$ per year:
(2 + 2 + 12/2) x 130 x 2 = 1 300.00$
The other 16W x 130 x 2 that was consumed by the fluorescent and the 20W x 130 by its ballast, was converted to heat. Which had to be conditioned at extra cost!
In office area, 90% of the heat, in average, got to be compensated by the conditioners:
( 0,016kwh x 2 + 0,020kwh ) 130 x 0.067 x 15 x 365 x 0.9 = 2 231.76$

The total annum economy is:
1 972.97$ + 1 300.00$ + 2 231.76$ = 5 504.73$
